EUROPEAN GUILD CAPE GUN
Item #: 16822
This piece is either German or Austrian production having no makers marks or proof markings on the barrels or the action. The exposed hammers are in excellent working condition, the engraving on the locks, under side of the frame and trigger bow is sharp and has a uniform patina. the wood shows handling and there is a crack in the upper right hand side of the wrist. The bores on the shotgun and the rifle are both clear and have no pitting. The forend is held in place by a wedge similar to a muzzle loader. The shotgun barrel only has a damascus pattern. This was a WW II trophy brought home after the war. The right barrel is chambered for the rifle and is fired by the front trigger which is a set trigger, by pushing forward on the trigger to set the desired release tension. The stock has a teardrop cheek piece and curved steel butt plate and small forend with some chipping along the edges. The action is opened by moving the lever under the forend to the right, as the gun is not equipped with a conventional top lever for that purpose.
